History of civilization is a testimony to the fact that education has consistently been the determining force of level of prosperity¸ progress¸ welfare and security of the people of a nation of the world¸ right from its inception to the dawn of 21st century.

However¸ it is equally a vital fact that the quality of education within and outside classroom situation of an educational institution has always remained contingent upon the teaching effectiveness of teachers. If this be so there is no other alternative before India¸ today to plan¸ shape and design a teacher education programme which has the potential of developing understanding¸ skills and human value developing strategies among prospective teachers helpful to them in becoming excellent teachers.

It is against this conceptual background and belief that the Management Committee of Shivalik Educational Trust Society¸ Saharanpur resolved to establish a teacher education institution namely Shivalik Institute of Education (SIE) at Saharanpur and the resolution to get translated into concrete reality during October 2004¸ of course¸ after receiving recognition from National Council of Teacher Education Jaipur and affiliation from Chaudhary Charan Singh University¸ Meerut.
