DESCRIPTION :

The D. B. S. College is located in the south part of the city Kanpur. After the tragic partition after independence this part of the city became a rehabilitation centre for the displaced population. The great visionary Late Dr. Virendra Swarup¸ with the view of imparting education to the large influx of refugees¸ laid down the foundation of this college. D. B. S. College started its normal functioning in the year 1959 with the mission of imparting quality and value based education to boys and girls students without discriminating caste¸ creed and class of the society. The institution started with only 78 students and 7 teachers.

The college expanded in the mid sixties with the opening of post graduate faculties in science subjects - Physics¸ Chemistry¸ Zoology¸ Botany and Mathematics. Class rooms and laboratories were constructed to accommodate increasing number of students. At present the college has the status of being one among the biggest and leading institution affiliated with C. S. J. M. University¸ Kanpur. It is a grant-in-aid institution and is recognized by the UGC under 2 (f) and 12 (b) since the year 1970. Initially it was affiliated to Agra University and later on with the establishment of Kanpur University (C. S. J. M. University) the college automatically got affiliated with C. S. J. M. University¸ Kanpur.
