DESCRIPTION :

Sri Krishnadevaraya University had its beginning in the year 1968 as a Post Graduate Centre of Sri Venkateswara University. The Post Graduate Centre was given the Autonomy in the year 1976 and was elevated to the status of the University in the year 1981. Initially¸ the University functioned as a Unitary Residential University and was conferred the status of an Affiliating University in the year 1987.  The Post Graduate Centre at Kurnool till then functioning under the aegis of Sri Venkateswara University was brought under the jurisdiction of this University in the year 1993.  The P. G. Centre¸ Kurnool was elevated to the status of a Unitary Residential University in 2008.

Sri Krishnadevaraya University College offers 37 Post-Graduate and two Under-Graduate courses through its 29 departments. The University College of Engineering and Technology has been offering three engineering branches since 2006-07. The University College of Education was started in the academic year 2007-08¸ which offers B.Ed. and M.Ed. courses. The University College of Pharmacy was started from the academic year 2008-09.

Sri Krishnadevaraya University has been contributing to the cause of higher education through 111 Affiliated Degree Colleges of which 11 are meant exclusively for Women. The other colleges affiliated to the University include 51 Colleges of Education¸ two Oriental Colleges¸ three Law Colleges and one Engineering College while 38 affiliated colleges under the University are also offering Post-Graduate Courses in various disciplines.
