In exercise of the powers conferred by section 38 of the Andhra Pradesh Government Medical and Dental Instituion converting them into Semi-Autonomous Institution under the Act No.31 of 2007¸ published in Andhra Pradesh Gazette vide reference No.26 January 23¸2008.

The Government have issued orders for construction of new Medical College and Hospital viz.¸Rajiv Gandhi Insttue of Medical Sciences (RIMS).Ongole with an estimated cost of Rs.25 crores Sanctioned in G.O.Ms.No.210 HM&FW (E1)Dept.¸ Dated 27-05-2007.

The District Collector & Magistrate has identified and handed over the site to an extent of 37.46 acres in survey No.68 of Pelluru Village¸Ongole Mandal pertaining to Nagarjuna Sagar Project in which Staff Quarters & Offices of Irrigation Departments were existing.
