DESCRIPTION :

The Islamic University of Science and Technology was established by an Act of the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislative Assembly in November 2005. The Chancellor of the University is the Chief Minister¸ ex officio of the State¸ and its Board is the Board of Directors¸ ex officio¸ of the J&K Muslim Wakf Board. The apex executive authority of the University is its Executive Council¸ chaired by the Vice Chancellor. Its flat administrative structure comprises of four key executive departments consisting of the Office of the Vice Chancellor¸ the Office of the Finance Officer¸ the Office of the Registrar¸ the Office of the Dean of Academic Affairs and the Department of Estates. These units report directly to the Vice Chancellor. 

The Islamic University of Science and Technology is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and its specified courses are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. During the academic year 2009?10¸ the University anticipates an enrollment of around 1¸400 students. Currently¸ most students are from the Kashmir Valley¸ Jammu and Ladakh¸ but we expect to have a more varied student demographic in the coming years.
Community Initiatives

Social responsibility is an integral part of the culture and ethos of our University. We interact closely with the local Rotary Club and other organisations that have a social agenda. We regularly host events such as farmers? awareness camps¸ health awareness programmes and community workshops to inculcate a sense of civic consciousness and duty amongst students.
