DESCRIPTION :

The Board of Trustees of Bangabasi College passed a resolution & entrusted Principal Prof. P. K. Bose to place the detailed reports in respect of dividing the College into 04(Four) autonomous colleges following the directives from University Grants Commission(UGC) and adopted the resolution in the GB Meeting of Bangabasi College dated 06-09-1964(Item Nos. 12 & 13).The resolution had really cleared the path for setting up of 4(FOUR) independent College units affiliated under University of Calcutta. The report was placed in the GB Meeting dated 4th October¸ 1964 by Prof. Prasanta Kumar Bose¸ Principal & Secretary¸ GB of Bangabasi College & that report was assented unanimously. This was indeed the foundational legislation in the history of Bangabasi College of Commerce. The First Ad-hoc Governing Body was constituted in terms of GBR No.13 dated 06-09-1964 and approved in the GB Meeting held on 04-10-1964 for establishment of Bangabasi College of Commerce and its Administration. Justice Shri Sankar Prasad Mitra became the President and Prof. Prasanta Kumar Bose became the Principal-in-Charge & Secretary of the Ad-hoc Governing Body of Bangabasi College of Commerce. Thus Bangabasi College of Commerce came into existence & started functioning as an Evening College in the Bangabasi College School building at 8/1 St. James Square¸ Calcutta-12 under the Administrative supervision of the Ad-hoc Governing Body constituted & approved as per GB Resolution dated 04-10-1964. In pursuance of the above facts¸ BANGABASI COLLEGE OF COMMERCE was establishment on 04-10-1964 and was affiliated under the University of Calcutta for imparting UG level Education to B.Com(Pass) Course from the Academic Session:1964-1965.
