sarojini naidu government girls postgraduate (autonomous) college¸ popularly known as &lsquonutan college&rsquo is situated in bhopal¸ the &lsquocity of lakes&rsquo and capital of madhya pradesh. established in the year 1970 as government girls degree college¸ in tatya tope nagar¸ the college shifted to its present campus in shivaji nagar in the year 1980. it was renamed sarojini naidu government girls postgraduate autonomous college in 1997. it is acclaimed as one of the most reputed government colleges in the state¸ striving for all round development of its students. set up with the strength of 300 students¸ it now imparts higher education to nearly 3700 young women.


true to its mission statement¸ the college aspires to use education as a multifaceted tool for preparing women as well equipped participants in society at large. the college has brilliant track record of the past forty four years.

in recognition of its achievements¸ the ugc and the state government granted autonomy to college in 1995-96. the autonomous status was last reviewed in 2012 and extended till 2016-17. the college was conferred the status of &lsquocollege with potential for excellence&rsquo by university grants commission in 2010 on the basis of its excellent performance.
