Today¸ the role of the nurses is challenged to make quick yet critical and informed decisions about variety of client's problem occurring with in the content of the complex and rapidly changing health care system.

The nursing profession is expanding its scope and in the scientific knowledge relating to its practice. Research is becoming a major force in nursing and is being used to change practice¸ education and health policies. The scope of nursing also includes nursing practice¸ which is a direct service¸ goal directed and adaptable to the needs of the individual¸ the family and the community during health and illness. It is a systematic process of problem diagnosis¸ problem analysis¸ development of plan of care and continuous assessment of evolving plan of care for the patient as a 'whole'. The quality care is based up on scientific principles and on ever changing bio-psycho-social and economical needs of the individual client which directs the nurse education to broaden the scope of nursing while providing total care at primary¸ secondary and tertiary levels.
