The origin of the word ?ayurveda? is both startling and enchanting.  Ayurveda is a system that uses the inherent principles of Nature so that the bounties of Nature can be used for one?s physical well being and so that one?s  mind and body become attuned to the tranquillity of Nature. Ayurveda is a term derived from Sanskrit¸  and is made up of the words ?ayus? and ?veda?. ?Ayus? means life and ?veda? means knowledge or science. Thus¸ the term ?ayurveda? means ?the knowledge of life? or ?the science of life.?
