St. Ignatius Institute of Health Sciences (Nursing)¸  established in the year 2003¸ is situated in the campus of the St. Ignatius Hospital¸ Honavar which are managed by the DharmaJyothi Charitable Society¸ Vamanjoor¸ Mangalore¸ Reg.No.S.No.23/73-74 ? SOUTH KANARA.
The institute is a dream of Bishop emeritus Most Rev.Dr. Ignatius Lobo¸ Bishop of Belgaum who was also the pioneer of St.Ignatius Hospital. His dream of initiating an institute of Nursing was realized by the hard efforts of Very Rev. Sr. Maria Goretti¸ SRA¸ Superior General of the Queen of the Apostles Congregation.
The Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles congregation has been exclusively working towards the upliftment of the downtrodden.  Special focus has always been maintained on ?medical needs of the people.?  With this aim the ?Dharmajyothi Charitable Society? was founded in the year 1973 under the name Dharmajyothi Society with the office at Kallianpur.
