Establishing a Yoga Institute was the dream of the founder of Somaiya Vidyavihar¸ Padmabhushan Pujya. Shri K. J. Somaiya¸ a humanist and philanthropist with great foresight and vision. K. J. Somaiya Yoga Academy was inaugurated by H. H. Swami Tadrupanandaji on 30th April 1993. Presently Dr. S. K. Somaiya¸ is the Chairman of the Academy which is a part of Somaiya Sanskriti Vihar which is committed to the spread of Indian culture¸ morality and values particularly amongst the student community belonging to various educational institutions in this vast beautiful 60 acres campus at Vidyavihar in the heart of Mumbai.

Besides conducting a degree course in Yoga¸ K. J. Somaiya Yoga Academy conducts a number of personality development courses¸ health courses¸ yoga therapy courses and Yoga teacher training programmes for the students¸ teachers and staff in this campus. Highly qualified resource persons are available in this institute for conducting these programms. A galaxy of eminent scholars also visit and give their guidance.
