DESCRIPTION :

Dental Science is an area that has gained tremendous recognition in recent years. In the past¸ this important acet of Medical Science was neglected in comparison with mainstream medicine. The ratio of qualified Dental Surgeons was very low as compared to other Medical faculties. This prompted the Sardar Patel Shikhan Samiti (Registered Public Charitable Society: Regn No.- 1087/95-96; Dt: 05.09.95) to establish an Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences alongwith a General Hospital with the main objective of rendering social and public service to the poor¸ needy and deserving populace of Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states alongwith providing Academic excellence in Dental and Medical Sciences¸ training and research.

The Institute got off to a flying start under the leadership of Honorable Chairman and Founder Dr.O.P.Chaudhary. It was his zeal¸ enthusiasm¸ determination¸ patience and perseverance that the Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences was setup in 1996¸ and named ?Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences? as a tribute to Iron man of India ? Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel¸ who have been a constant source of inspiration to our honorable Chairman.

O.P.Chaudhary Hospital and Research Centre ? a multispeciality hospital too was established within the campus imparting best of Medical Care to the patients.

The Dental Council of India (the apex body) gave the approval for the BDS course and a permanent affiliation was granted by Dr.Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University¸ Faizabad¸ since then the institution has come a long way and gained numerous accolades in the process. Post Graduate course in dentistry was started in the year 2004. Today it prides itself in rendering Masters in All branches of Dentistry. The project would not have seen the light of the day had it not been our honorable Chairman?s constant untiring efforts¸ dynamism and promotion of team spirit amongst those involved in this task.
