The need for a Cancer Institute with World Class Facilities was the dream of Late Smt Nandamuri Basava Taraka Rama Rao¸ W/o Late Sri N. T. Rama Rao the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh who herself succumbed to the dreadful disease Cancer". Smt Nandamuri Basava Taraka Rama Rao Memorial Cancer Foundation (NBTR) was set up in the form of Trust in 1989 with the initiation of Late Sri N. T. Rama Rao¸ for establishing a Cancer Hospital in memory of his wife Smt Nandamuri Basava Tarakam.
