DESCRIPTION :

The opening of IIP - Hyderabad centre was another initiative taken by the Institute to set up the second branch office in the southern part of the country¸ besides IIP-Chennai centre. This particular centre was set up with the kind assistance from the Government of Andhra Pradesh who allotted a land admeasuring 25¸780 sq. ft. However¸ the Institute constructed a building of approximately 15¸156 sq. ft. covered area (Ground + First floor) consisting of material testing laboratory¸ chemical laboratory¸ transport testing laboratory¸ class rooms¸ conference room¸ server room¸ meeting hall etc. The Institute was established in the year 2006. Initially¸ the Institute started with only testing and training activities related to packaging. Subsequently¸ the Institute expanded its facilities for testing of bulk packages for the carriage of dangerous goods for export by sea and air as per the IMDG and ICAO regulations¸ respectively. 

Meanwhile¸ the Institute experienced that a number of students from the southern part of the country showed their interest for undertaking higher education in the field of packaging. Hence¸ the Institute commenced the two years¸ full-time Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Packaging Technology in 2011 with an intake of 18 students and now¸ it is increased to 30 students. The Institute has also taken the initiative for obtaining the accreditation to NABL for its testing laboratories. In addition¸ this particular centre also offers consultancy services in the field of packaging.
